Timeline of Boston Wifi developments

May 2006: Washington Gateway installs first two access points on Washington Street.

February 2006: Boston Main Streets partners with Wentworth Institute of Technology to bring wireless to Mission Hill.

November 2005: Roslindale WiFi initiative discussed at the Roslindale Board of Trade meeting.

October 2005: Curtis Hall in Jamaica Plain identified as location for second access point in JP.

September 2005: Staples Copy and Print Center agrees to donate printing services for WiFi decals. --- First Hyde Park access point installed in Hyde Park Community Center. --- Dan Devilles, manager for the Videosmith Building in Jamaica Plain, agrees to host the first access point in JP. --- Boston Main Streets and the Wireless Advocacy Group holds its first community meeting in Roslindale outlining the wireless network and the soon-to-be-released business package.

August 2005: Roslindale receives its second access point located on the roof of 20 Belgrade Ave., providing coverage up to and including the train station in Roslindale. -- The Holy Name School in West Roxbury agrees to host the first access point for West Roxbury. --- Roslindale receives its third access point.

July 2005: Hyde Park and Washington Gateway identified as the next districts to receive WiFi after Roslindale and West Roxbury.

May 2005: Roslindale installs its first access point on the roof of the Community Center at 6 Cummins Highway, providing free WiFi to Adam's Park in Roslindale Village.

April 2005: Boston Main Streets agrees to partner with a collaborative of private vendors to bring WiFi to the Main Streets Communities. The collaborative is made up of Community Wisp, Colubris, ASCIO Wireless, and Single Digits.
West Roxbury and Roslindale slated as the first Main Street districts to pilot the WiFi Initiative.
